work in progress

here are a few of the new pieces i've been working on lately. i'm a bit excited about the top one! i cut some pieces out of a photo i printed and stitched around them to make some of the collage elements. i wasn't sure how i was going to use them or if they'd look too out of place. it's acrylic, marker, cotton thread and collage on paper, with pinholes. {clicking takes you to flickr}.

i'm playing with a looser kind of painting with the others! and some chunkier leaves {2nd last pic/sketch}.

happy march + happy autumn {in melbourne at least}! it felt almost like winter today, which i guess is what autumn is about. don't think i'm ready for the cold just yet . . .

i'm working on making holes for these drawings while the paint dries! you know how it is time-wise, and when you can't decide you dither between. . .
new colours, bought on the weekend. i have been craving the brightest oranges and pinks ~ it's an ongoing craving, which is getting stronger as the days get colder and greyer!

my creative space

figuring out what i really want to work on . . . lots of things started, waiting for me to make the next move.
feeling kind of scattered and exhausted after the first half of the week which was all about tantrums and naughtiness {think two and a half!} and sickness {home from school}.
remembering that painting is just the therapy for this side of life. i wonder why i actually forget this and don't get straight into it when i can . . .

calendar sneak peak!

here's a little preview of the calendar collages ~ {they are rough scans + need a little cleaning up work!}.
lastnight i kept waking up to the sound of paper slipping and falling onto the floor ~ couldn't figure out whether it was real or not! does this type of thing ever happen to you?

my creative space . production

there was a bit of a production line happening in my space this morning as i finally got 20 large sheets of paper cut into pieces. it got tricky on the 2nd lot as i realised that my beautiful hot pressed cotton paper sheets from france were actually big parallelograms rather than rectangles! a little wrangling with the long metal ruler and the cutting mat required to get some straight lines to work from . . .
i started on some drawings ~ i thought i'd do some lights on paper . . .
and, the most ambitious idea: i'm going to make a calendar for 2010 with these small collages! {i know most people who are doing calendars already have them done, but it seems that i want to go full steam ahead a little late anyway!} i hope to have the collage parts finished tomorrow and to work on the clean up and layout over the next week.

the result of today's effort {there are a few more collages too, will post them on the weekend}. they will gradually make their way to the collage section in my shop.

a little work on paper in progress ~ started yesterday and a couple of weeks ago {the green and grey ones in the middle}.
in driving news: am very excited ~ the instructor said this morning that it's time to book the test! they are all booked up til october mind, but at least he said it!
