more granny work

was very nice to be written about here:
http://fededesigntextiles.blogspot.com/2008/05/granny-chic.html
thanks fiona.
above – new baby penguins, just finished . . . will be in the shop when they are named! and a scarf i just finished {pattern from stitchnbitch crochet book}. i had to use my new favourite colour combination.

old mag

sadly i didn't get my usual time allowance for art this week due to a gastro bug . . . but i did get to flick through my old favourite mags and found this page from nova, march 2001. i wish that mag was still going. the styling is so great. i find the most inspiration for collage in the alternative magazines {like dazed and confused/another mag/or even french vogue} where i seem to see more than the pics. the colours seem to jump out and the backgrounds speak to me . . .

while i was sleeping

this luckyness was going on . . . thanku to syko.
and a new collage that i'm happy with, now listed in the shop. am starting to feel a little more confident with describing the work! i'm usually of the school of thought that says: images speak for themselves – but i know people want more info than that.

new kid on the fibrearts block

i was starting to think that it would be impossible to finish my work for aprilmay open studio tomorrow at the same time as looking after the two kids when my 3.5 yr old son asked for a needle and some cotton and then threaded it allbyhimself. then he asked for some wool to sew on (i gave him a crochet button i'd made earlier) and this is what he did! i was most impressed. a very pleasant afternoon on the couch watching playschool and 'making'.
