the birthday festival
the birthday festival has begun. the little one turned 3 on friday and the big one turns 6 on wednesday and a double party will happen on tuesday {melbourne cup day!!}.
feels like a bigger celebration all round this year as 3 feels like we now have 2 'kids'. it's the first 'real' birthday. we got him some lego because in our house lego is IT and also lego = completely grown up.
lots of fun in the house :)
hope you're having a great weekend.

wilkins + kent + an interview
some exciting news: a big stack of my prints and 2011 calendars are now in wilkins + kent! they have 2 really great shops selling beautiful furniture {which they make at the back of the fitzroy shop} and a huge range of handmade work, art, books, stationery etc.
their shops are here: 372 little bourke street, melbourne + 230 brunswick street, fitzroy. go see!
also, i did a small interview on meredith's blog {there's a discount over there too!}.
have a great week :)

sewing paper
after cleaning a lot of fluff out of the area where the bobbin lives {in the sewing machine} i made a start on the garland making! it just so happened that the fluff had built up too much at the very time that i tried to sew paper last week. mmmm.
it still did snap once . . . i think sewing slowly helps. will have to practice keeping the 2 layers of squares lined up evenly . . .
happy friday!

my creative space
working hard today!! i just got back from 4 days at my sister's place yesterday ~ i went to meet my 4 week old nephew. it was great to see her, my 2 year old nephew + brother in law {oh + also my dad and carol} ~ once or twice a year is hardly enough.
the moo postcards arrived while i was away ~ i'm really happy with how they turned out.
also, cutting calendars and designing this back page ~ with 12 images at a glance ~ for a real life shop!
happy creative space day. pop over to kirsty's for more spaces.

my creative space
i've been entertaining myself this week with these little squares ~ dreaming up uses for them. they are cut from not-quite-there-yet prints {takes many gos to get colours right} or prints that i've marked or wrecked somehow but just can't throw away.
i had an idea that i got super excited about, but i'm not sure i can make it work. i was going to stitch them into diamond garlands. the sewing machine hated this idea. i got some great advice from lovely twitter people about using a thicker needle, adjusting tension etc, but i have a feeling 2 layers of non-flexible thick paper might be too much.
on to plan b!
have fun in your space today. pop over to kirsty's to play along.
ps. will draw the giveaway very soon . . . plan b with that one too, couldn't coordinate it with the boys this morning :)
p.s.s just want to thank lynsey for this post and amanda for this one :)

3 new prints = a giveaway!
:: floating ~ blue
:: diamonds and flowers
:: floating ~ yellow and blue
thank you for the lovely/encouraging comments on yesterday's post :)
these prints are what i spent most of my working time on over the last couple of weeks. you may remember the bottom one from a while back. this version has the yellow paper reflection/fuzz taken away ~ which lets the colours speak more clearly, in their kind of soft way! i wanted to make 'digitally coloured' work without taking away from the original pencil drawing.
if you'd like to win these 3, post a comment/follow = 1 entry, tweet/blog/share = 2 entries.
i'll draw the winner on thursday morning {october 14}, hopefully before school ;)
happy friday!

my creative space
i'll be popping in and out of this space today ~ hubby went in to have his appendix out last night! it was very strange, and reassuring, to get a call at 11.30pm from the surgeon saying everything is ok and he'll be in until friday . . .
this week has been a blur of getting back into the routine of school ~ kind of a shock to the system after having so much time to work over the 2 week school break. i need to re~adjust to the summer schedule, cricket starts this weekend {actually maybe next weekend} . . . a very tricky process, to keep the creativity going but also adjust my expectations and realise that a lot of ideas will need to be on hold for a while. seems pretty simple when i write it here ~ but to my brain that has been in creative overdrive, it takes a while to get the hang!
the spoonflower book arrived yesterday ~ i may slowly start to work on some fabric~making ideas :)
hope you are having a lovely time in your creative space today. pop over to kirsty's to play along and see more spaces.
