my creative space

i've been feeling kind of blah lately and possibly a little burnt out ~ i might have pushed it too far with the intense non-creative work burst over the holidays . . . and also having appointments slotted into the creative time in the first week of getting back into things, doesn't help . . .

thankfully, i think i'm at the tail end of it. i'm trying to let go of 'grand plans which won't happen for a year and a half' and taking it slowly and working in stints on the top painting and trying out a simple idea in the bottom one {on paper}. am into black with blue at the moment!

happy creative space day! hop over to kirsty's for more spaces.

I know the feeling! I keep thinking I need to get back to the bench and get some more work done. But this week, since hubby has gone back to work again, I just seem to be catching up on all the appointments, cleaning, groceries etc. and never getting any time to myself. Once Cohen is in bed I collapse on the couch and crochet! Tomorrow is the day. Unless I have forgotten some appointment...

PS. Really loving the black and blue too. I just ordered some yarn called 'raven' and I think it's an apt word to associate with your piece.

Ughh I know the feeling too - I gave myself a break and just sewed some stuff for my kids and did some little projects for their room. I love the colours you gravitate towards.

hi belinda, thanks for your lovely comment. feels like we're in exactly the same boat at the moment. the stop-start is so hard when you're trying to work creatively. i've had many of those days recently. keep going, your work is so beautiful and the little one will be at school before you know it (and then you'll probably want him back!) x

i'm loving these dark tones (but sorry to hear it's blahness that inspired them). hope you get back on track soon. xo

Sometimes "burn out" is just a little head space to recharge the creative juices- by the looks of these it seems to be working :)
really liking the black as well!

i fell in love with the bottom one even before reading your comments...looks like a bit of soul searching going on and i like it. it's very different from your usual palette but in a very good creatively stretching kind of way. be well : )

it seems like a lot of us melbourne creative people are all feeling blah and lacking inspiration and desire to create.

I hope things become brighter and that you are able to get back into things ASAP.

Love the beautiful work in this post!

I recognize the mood- all too well- dear Belinda, just hold on and keep making these beautiful things that you do even when in the not-very-inspired-times! I love the blue-black - they do grow you know!(and as Francesca pointed out, then you want them back small and sitting on your lap-LOL)xx
