new work

these are the pieces i've been working on over the holidays. i took lots of photos but the shiny embroidery thread is very tricky! the shine of the thread {which i love} seems to look tacky when i brighten the shots in photoshop {a necessary step}!
the stitching has been fun and the thread has turned out to be just the kind of addition of colour that i was after. i didn't want to cover up the drawing with paint ~ i wanted to keep the simplicity of the drawing . . . and the paper is 100% cotton . . .
i took these photos in the kids' room against the an old map. i'm hoping to get some better photos soon.

thanks so much for all the comments on my last work post :)

Very cool. I love how your work is sparse and bare--and very complicated.

Love these Belinda- I just did my first too with thread but I had to send it off to a friend who blogs and I wanted it to be a surprise so I can't post it yet. Lots of fun! The idea of taking the photos in fron of the map works really well-

What's on your mind...Oh these are fabulous. i'm drawn to anything with stitchwork and it really seems to suit your style. i'm fooling around with stitching a bit myself and your new tiny designs remind me of beads scattered on a page. lovely bit of inspiration-thanks for sharing!

I really like the addition of the threads. Just the perfect touch.

I like the stitches a lot - it feels like they add to the drawing without competing too much. I'm especially fond of the thread ends hanging down in the first two.
