my creative space . the walk to my desk!

my creative space starts {if i'm lucky} on the walk home from kinder/childcare. i try to clear my head and focus on what i'll be working on . . . it's only a 5 minute walk unless i stop and look!
not sure what i'm doing with these drawings ~ i have a couple of ideas, but am thinking too hard about how to go about them. thinking too hard makes me feel a little blocked! i guess the thing is, that i like them as simple drawings but feel that they need to be something else somehow. this usually involves scanning + photoshop or painting, then scanning then photoshop . . .

hope you are having a joyous time in your creative space today. for lots more visit kirsty.

hi belinda-
thinking too hard about a piece definitely blocks me (and keeps me up at night!). and I also recognize the feeling of really liking something I've done but knowing it needs a little bit something else...best of luck figuring it out (as I'm sure you will).

enjoy these walks - can't wait to see what you come up with your drawings

I know what you mean Belinda, too much thinking can be disorienting when it comes to making art...the walks are definitely good though, enjoy them even if they are short!

I can't think too hard about these sorts of things without becoming blocked either. I can see how your walk is very inspiring :)

and yes - 6 meals is more like it - with snacks in between some days too!

too much thinking is definatley a block for me I have to wait for it to happen, I did a post on doodling last week and that is great for unblocking and not thinking!! love what you have done I think they look beautiful in their simplicity just as they are

oh what a lovely walk. I love the way you've used the simple sometimes unnoticed things for inspiration - but that is what you do isn't it? I have a new term. Gretchenmistic - the art of using simple things for inspiration. Ok. I'm rambling but it's true.

I would say you take full advantage of the beauty around you. If only I had the time to do the same. Maybe I will have to be a photographer. I usually only have a split second to catch the majic in my classroom everyday, and then sometimes it is just a look that flashes across a teenage face. Keep up the great work.

That's a pretty start to your creative time! I like the drawings just as they are, but I understand the urge to make them more. That's why I end up in embroidery or carving, because I can't just leave the drawings alone!
