last of the new fabric designs

the last of the new lot of fabric designs!
i really had fun with these flower/paper cut shapes. this one feels a little 70s to me!

and this one is me working a little outside my colour comfort zone!! what do you think? i'm not sure whether to list or not to list ~ something is telling me i have to be super comfortable with all the new designs to have a 'proper' collection in the shop, and something else tells me this might be a bit too serious!! would love your opinion :)

some rather dodgy photos {thanks to dark, dark, but beautifully foggy in the morning sky} of some drawings i worked on today. and some colours that are making me feel good!

i don't have much to show for my friday work stint this week ~ today was a vague one! i did have another driving lesson though ~ i put my test back a couple of months as i need to gain confidence in my decision making ie. to not sit at a stop sign for more than 5 minutes just checking that the coast is clear! remeber that stage??

friday . new prints!

here is the light in our front room today! the rosemary forrest out the front is being blown around by the wind and the light comes and goes.
i managed to clean up 4 of the files and made new prints, yay {hope to have them in the shop very soon}!
and i was finally able to get some photos of the original pieces . . . i feel like celebrating!

friday . new drawing

what an icy cold but slightly sunny friday! thanku for the well wishes re my neck ~ it's fixed but a bit sore . . .
i did this new drawing/painting this afternoon ~ it's called 'the conference' ~ if you live in the area and you have something you need to say, pull up a chair!
the little ones have a new layer but they are mainly in here to show that there was some light today, which is worth celebrating.

friday . work!

another friday happily lost to painting, listening to music, drinking coffee and generally re-balancing my tired brain {i seem to get stressed so much more easily if i don't get enough time to paint}! what more could i want from a friday?
this is one that i started the other day and i think it is finished.
lately i've been listing pieces like these as prints rather than as original pieces {in the shop}, which i hope is not like releasing a movie straight to dvd! what do you think about having work available as originals vs prints and the option of both available simultaneously??

friday . work in progress . etsy day

i worked on this painting today. i lost 2 albums in the process! i started on the white layer, about one third of the way down, and before i knew it a whole album had played {beck - the album after 'the information'. i don't know the title as it's on my shuffle!}. this happened twice. don't you love it when you are so absorbed in what you are doing that time means nothing?
sadly this pic doesn't bring out all the detail in the painting as the board is half a centimetre too big for the scanner, which means it's not flat on the glass. not sure what i'll do about that.

work in progress . friday 13th!

the trip to the supply shop was completely successful, even if only to help me with the work i was already starting/have now properly started. {see the yellow!} these are 2 of 7 i am working on. the linen is going to wait for me to have an actual plan – with canvas i hate just jumping in {too much pressure}.

a little progress . friday

how quickly friday comes around!

i've spent some time organising my workspace – it's one of those things that is really important yet always takes a number in terms of what i actually do with my small blocks of time. making the work is the priority. the job is half done – i'll post some pictures when i am proud of them!

this another in progress piece – 'i remember it like this'. it's more layered that the other ones, which i like. in fact i really like layers! i also like the consistency of this paint mixed with the gel medium, it looks like resin or wax {it's transparent} – i feel like i'm making jewellery!

the others in this series are done {pics coming . . .} and the 'white trees' painting is also done {ditto re pics} . . . i think finishing work is becoming a new addiction for me {fingers crossed!}.

the boards . friday

it's been a week!
one of those busy ones with not much obvious progress in the art department. i've got quite a few pieces that i've started, so they are in progress. and i'm learning the fine art of finishing things. this is an in-progress acrylic painting on one of the boards that i bought at the start of the year – i finally feel ready to paint freely.

this weekend is going to be quite a different and exciting one for me – i'm taking 2 nights off! i'm going to stay in an extremely glamorous hotel in the city and i plan to do not much other than read, swim and sleep {can't remember the last time i did that}. it will be the first whole night/s away from the kids, which is why i chose a getaway that is 10 minutes away!

untitled . friday

have been wanting to list these ones but haven't as i 've not been able to title them – and it's making me tense! i think a title is a good thing {even tho mine are mostly obvious}. and i like a description that gives artwork more of a face/depth or helps the viewer understand the approach, or at least gives insight into the material process. but then my other thought is that they could/should easily speak for themselves.

these ones are a taking me in a new direction in terms of collage but they touch on the same ideas as my drawings. i guess they are about inhabiting this planet in one way or another and my wish that there could be enough room for every personality, and also that we could respect the planet a lot more {too much to condense into something that isn't mushy}.

i like to be taken somewhere new but still feel that untitled means unfinished! what do you think re titles?

labokoff

i thought i'd post these pieces from labokoff, whose work i love, as a celebration of the end of a long rough week of extreme weather. they appeal to me no end and they also make me feel calm.
they are: 1. vagues normandes 1 2. pilat 3. soleil.

am looking forward to slightly more reasonable temperatures tonite {and maybe some sleep} - may have to wait a week for it to be actually coolish.
